Apollo Health Street to Provide Self-Pay Accounts Receivable Management at Mississippi County Hospital System

Conshohocken, Penn. – Apollo Health Street, a developer of world-class solutions that tackle healthcare’s toughest financial and IT challenges, announced today a new agreement with Mississippi County Hospital System (MCHS) which comprises two hospitals - SMC Regional Medical Center in Osceola, AR and Great River Medical Center in Blytheville, AR.

Apollo will review approximately 500 claims per month and identify and collect self-pay accounts for both inpatient and outpatient records during the partnership with the hospital. As part of collecting self-pay balances, Apollo will work with patients to establish practical payment schedules.

“Our team will improve MCHS’ self-pay collections through patient-friendly collection practices. We will also provide intelligent feedback and recommendations on the hospitals’ current practices which will positively impact cash performance,” said Bill Colgan, executive vice president of hospital services for Apollo.

In addition to collecting and following up with patients and guarantors on referred accounts, Apollo will maintain a customer service telephone line for incoming self pay patient inquiries.

“We experienced the self pay collection issues that face many hospitals today, including limited access to technology, staff, and best practices processes,” said Phil Norris, chief financial officer for Mississippi County Hospital System. “Apollo has the proven ability to evaluate the collections efforts and identify a solution that meets our needs. We look forward to improved results with Apollo’s help.”

Added Karen Ferrell, president and CEO for Apollo Health Street: “Our collections team handles self-pay balances with dignity and fairness, working with the patient to set reasonable payment plans. With Apollo focused on collections, MCHS can concentrate on their commitment to providing comprehensive, state-of-the-art medical care to the citizens of Mississippi County in Arkansas.”
